Finding the right balance for school holiday childcare can be challenging. You need a program that is safe and structured, while your child needs a space to play, explore, and relax.
The FANS Holiday Playscheme (hosted at Church Hill Nursery School) offers high-quality, reliable care for children aged 3 to 8 years old. Grounded in our core federation values, we provide a warm, inclusive environment where qualified early years specialists guide children to become confident, curious, and resilient learners.
Our holiday program is an extension of our daily educational philosophy, combining the best of early childhood pedagogy to ensure your child thrives:
Child-Initiated, Free-Flow Play: Following the principle that the environment is an essential teacher, we provide a wealth of indoor and outdoor activities. Children are encouraged to make their own choices, pursue their unique interests, and build resilience by taking safe, child-sized risks.
Purposeful & Creative Activities: Our days feature meaningful, hands-on projects designed to introduce new skills. From tactile clay modelling and creative baking to supervised fire pit experiences, children learn by doing and experimenting.
Sustained Shared Thinking: Our highly trained team doesn't just supervise; they get down to the children's eye level. By listening closely, asking open-ended questions, and collaborating in play, we help children problem-solve and expand their vocabulary.
Wholesome, Social Meal Times: Food is a core part of our community. We provide a nutritious breakfast menu in the morning and a freshly cooked, warm light tea in the late afternoon. These moments are treated as social, language-rich experiences where children practice independence and healthy choices.
Friday Celebrations: We round off every week with a relaxed party day featuring fancy dress, face painting, and a pizza lunch to celebrate the holiday community we’ve built together.
Because we maintain excellent staff-to-child ratios to support every individual, spaces are limited and bookings are processed early each half-term.
